PA Unltd MK4 Supra Finally Dyno!…. Fail.

June 22nd, 2017

Probably the most roller coaster of a day that I’ve had. I’ll try to do a timeline to  explain how everything went down to see how stressful this day went. So I had to trailer my car from Germany into Netherlands. 3 hour and 30 minute drive. Of course, I’ll have to back track so lets start with the 21st of June..(goes into a dream world)

1 Volkswagen Golf

1 Toyota Supra

1 Friend

1 Me

21st June, 2017

@1900 Enroute to the Netherlands

@2130 Stop at a Shell gas station, while there I decide to start my car just to hear the idle of the 2JZ goodness

@2131 Jacob notices that my water neck is leaking at the spot where we brazed the lower port…

@2140 Back on the road

@2300 Arrive at DP Engineering where the owner lets me store my car inside for the night

Side Notes:

When we got there the owner of DP Engineering didn’t expect us to be there but we seen lights on inside the shop so I tried to get someones attention inside. He pretty much cussed us out in dutch until I told him I was there for tomorrow then all was good.

The specific area we were in we had no service. The second you leave Germany you HAVE to go into roaming for anything but we all know that gets expensive quick. So it took 1 hour to find any food #McDonaldsMVP

We had to sleep in the car, which mean’t awkward. I slept in the hatch(Back problems) and my friend slept in the passenger seat which was not comfortable at all!

@0930 Get awaken by the owner pulling up in his van saying he was late

@0940 Ask if the owner can TIG weld my water neck before Arnout gets there so we can be ready for the dyno. He says yes just need to take it off and clean it. Also noting that Arnout will be here around 1030-1100

@1000 Waterneck is off but owner is gone

@1030 We drive around the corner to a Toyota Dealership that we seen last night to get coolant and brake clean.

@1100 Stopped by this store HEMA to get towels since my car had leaked some residue power steering fluid.( The shop owner did NOT like spills on his floor but I can’t blame him)

@1120 Back at the shop

@1130 Arnout shows up in this Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Roadster #2…

@ 1140 Owner welds my water neck

@1200 Owner says its lunch time and nothing is getting done until he gets food

@1230 They arrive back with sandwhiches

@ 1320 Its GAME TIME!

@1400 Supra is on the dynapack and ready to start, but wideband isn’t sending good signal to ecu

@1400-1420 Look at wiring and make it so the wires go directly to ECU instead of being spliced. It finally was talking to the ECU but reading was off so we decided to use the Dyno’s wideband instead/

@1425 Started tuning

@ 1430 Noticed the car is throwing a lot of blue smoke and has a misfire

@1435-1445 Swap out spark plugs for new ones and also notice oil in on some plugs

@1450 Still a lot of blue smoke but no more misfire

@1500 Start of the leak down test

@ 1515 Leak down is good but time to change oil since it was too thin

@1530 Finished with oil change and noticed gas was in it also from the injector  issues I had previously ( THANKFULLY WE CAUGHT IT)

@ 1535 We are 100% GOOD TO GO!

@1540-1800 Seen my car make 18WHP to 330WHP all this was on waste gate pressure which was .7 bar and the car sounded AMAZING!

@1800 Owner said it was dinner time so Chinese it was

@1945 Get back and we decide to get the boost solenoid hooked up to start adding boost and get some real power

@2020 All is hooked up but when we go to start the ECU isn’t getting any power

@2030 I remember I loosened a GROUND bolt that went to my E-Fan setup so for the heck of it I tighten it. As I touched it, it sparked ?!?!?!??? I said WTH and to try to start it now and see what happens. Sure enough it starts

@2032 They noticed that the tables were off by 300% meaning everything they did before was pointless. The wideband in the car was talking to the ecu perfect but also it started showing my battery having 10v but using a multimeter at the battery it showed 14v. The tuner instantly came up with the conclusion of electrical issues and as it was getting late I needed a plan.

@2035-2055 Paced around the shop and talked about a plan

2100 I decided to give my car to Arnout’s shop to go through the wiring and when its all sorted go back to get dyno’d then call me when its done.

2100-2145 Took car off the dyno, cleaned up the shop and loaded up ready to go back to Germany empty handed and empty wallet.

Talk about a sad day. It was a lesson learned I guess in the end. I need to make sure my car is 100% before getting there and next time take more days of leave.

Huge thanks to Jacob Stegman, Arnout Van Der Kamp, and DP Engineering
