PAUnltd MK4 Supra is tuned and back! Part 1/2

So, the day was a long one…. Started the day at 0700 in the morning meeting up with my two friends for the long journey ( Jacob and Brent). While leaving our local area it said 4 hours until we reach our destination and man I was not ready for that drive. Especially after only getting 6 hours worth of sleep and preparation. I’m also the type of person who likes to just get to the destination so I took no breaks and just did a straight shot getting there 30 minutes faster than timed ( #Autobahn ) and was too happy when I got close to the shop!

I was sooo excited to see my car after almost 2 months it was insane! While pulling up to the shop I was praying that it was in the garage safe and covered…. but it wasn’t, I can tell nobody touched my car since Arnout dropped it back off at his shop.

There was dirt and rocks all in the rims and tires from rain and wind blowing around. There was also spider webs around the spokes to prove it hasn’t been moved and just sat, but… I was reunited with my Supra! While there I let the owner know that I was around just so he wouldn’t think so weirdo was looking at this car and he notified Arnout that I was around and that tuning was scheduled for 1700. Which mean’t we had A LOT of time to burn. So we went to the local plaza just to look around and get food and of course it had to be McDonalds.

– Beautiful scenery down here

– Super OG VW Beetle

– McDonalds everywhere is different and Netherlands definitely knows how to McDonalds
While eating there we had 3 more hours to blow and lucky WiFi was in McDonalds and Arnout messaged me saying to stop by his shop since he was there and he knew I wanted to. So I looked on the maps and it was an hour away in Amsterdam so I was more than happy to go!

Upon walking in the shop this was the first car I laid eyes on! This perfect E34 M5 with a 2JZ VVTi Single turbo swap running an AEM V2 ECU. Just perfect and the body was immaculate!

– Amazing MK3 Supra with a 1JZ VVTi swap

– JZs on JZs and RBs with VRs and VQs

– Another View of the M5 2JZ

– Dope SW20 with a twin charged built 3SG Motor

– Just a part of what Supra Sport has to offer! This place is JZ heaven! Parts ranging from gasket all the way to manifolds and ECUs
Yup… like any other car enthusiast you just can’t walk into candy land and come out empty handed so I picked up a TRD front strut bar and a Cusco rear strut bar for the car because why not

So now that we have checked out Supra Store it was time to head back to get to tuning!

– Arnout’s banana van that lead the way back
Check out part 2 of this to get the tuning outcome!

August 9th, 2017…Will the Supra return?!

So Arnout has spoken! I should be getting my car on August 9th.. Hopefully! Lol

Crossing my fingers that my car stays good and survives the tuning session. With the recent communication between us I’ve been tossing around the idea of getting a BOV as well. Coming from Japan, honestly not many people run BOV’s and looking back I’ve never really seen any horror stories from not running one. With Arnout being an expert in the Supra/2JZ (Owner of SupraSport) area I asked his opinion and it was simple” Always run one”. Couldn’t have said it any clearer, so if time allows I’ll be trying to purchase a Tial BOV but if timing doesn’t allow then that is fine and I’ll get one at a later time.

Since traveling into the Netherlands isn’t something I want to do alone, I’m trying to get a couple friends to help drive up there to make it time go by faster. So far I’ll try to have Brent ( Owns a R33 Nissan Skyline GTST) and Jacob ( Owns a JZX90 Toyota Mark II) be my co-pilots to go up there with me. The group was supposed to be bigger but due to work schedules these two go.

From the last Dino day I made 330whp at 10psi (wastegate pressure) with a quick tune. Anyone care to guess what my ending boost level/ WHP will be?!
To Be continued…..

PA Unltd MK4 Supra still loading…

So, I’m sure you are wondering whats up with the supra right?! Well nothing has changed lol. I had to leave my car on June 22nd due to electric issues and that issue was fixed  July 5th. Shortly after the issue was fixed my car was towed back to DP Engineering where it has been since. Due to Arnout being the only one running SupraSport and having a busy personal life he hasn’t had time to tune my car. When Arnout is available the Owner of DP Engineering (Pieter) is busy. As of now for the wiring fix and two tow trucks I’m $600 deep!

At this point I feel car depressed lol . I haven’t felt motivated to post since its been down and unsure of when it will return.. So, I’ve been just saving a little be prepared to pay for this tune. I’ll try to be better with more updates though. I’ve received my wheels from @GarageOneThree ! They look amazing and can’t wait to throw them on since they aren’t what I usually get( You will see what I mean). Also, the PA Unltd Civic is pretty much sold as well. Due to the way German laws are I am forced to sell it.

On a bright now I bought my wife a newer daily which means I get the E36 Sedan that I got for her. Sooooo looks like this project will be going down as well. Of course, I’m scared to mod it now since I’m waiting on the bill for the Supra to be complete.

Last but not least, I’ll be gone for he next two months due to work training so I’ll be in Washington State for a month. Then a month in California! My camera will be fully charged and ready to do some features while I’m out there but hopefully I can return and have consistent updates!

Bought the car for ¥1,100,000 in Okinawa Japan in January 2016. Was freshly shipped from mainland Japan. Had a clean engine gone through and freshened up with new bearings and rings and such. Had it converted to a single turbo for future goals. Hope to have 650-700 to the wheels

So, the daily needs love also right?! I have a good friend in Japan that hooks me up with shipping when I buy parts #AustinCole

Real cool guy, but to get to the point I ended up purchasing some JDM tail lights and a Zero Fighter axle back straight pipe exhaust.

Now USUALLY I do research and make sure parts fit etc etc, but this time I just assumed the USDM model and JDM model were identical as far as body. Boy was I wrong. The outer parts of the lights are just fine but its the trunk lights that are completely different. Also the plugs are different from the JDM model lights. Seems like the plugs are bigger(the piece that spins and snaps in place to hold the light and plug the harness into.

These things.
Here is the best photo I can find to show the JDM trunk and the difference from the USDM

Notice how short they are.

Then notice how wide the USDM model is and it has the point at the bottom inner parts.

I just installed the outer portion since ill be ordering a trunk or USDM clears soon
Now for the exhaust all of it was straight forward and simple.

Sound clip after install, yes that is a slight vacuum leak that now is fixed haha

Next up will hopefully be the Supra.. and speaking of that wheels came in for it also!

PAUnltd MK4 Supra Update

So it has been a couple of weeks now and the Supra is still up in the Netherlands under the care of Arnout/Suprasport.

It was sad to leave my car in another country miles and hours away but it was my best/only option. Of course we ended the first Dyno day late and due to electrical issues. Over these past weeks they have sorted through the issues and found that I didn’t have enough Ground wires/ Power wires? Secondly, I didn’t have my wideband hooked up properly I counted some pins wrong( dumb mistake haha). Throughout SupraSports findings they said my cars wiring was a hack job and wanted to know who did the wiring…. (ME) but I used a stock Supra 2JZGTE harness and of course you only need to swap out 3 wires for it to work. So instead of me talking more, here is how it has been going lately. Also, you may be able to learn from my mistakes throughout the conversation. Also I feel bad he thought I was rushing him to get my car finished lol. All I wanted was info to make sure whatever was next I can afford it haha

Well there you have it! Hopefully to get some more good news soon!

PA Unltd MK4 Supra Finally Dyno!…. Fail.

June 22nd, 2017

Probably the most roller coaster of a day that I’ve had. I’ll try to do a timeline to  explain how everything went down to see how stressful this day went. So I had to trailer my car from Germany into Netherlands. 3 hour and 30 minute drive. Of course, I’ll have to back track so lets start with the 21st of June..(goes into a dream world)

1 Volkswagen Golf

1 Toyota Supra

1 Friend

1 Me

21st June, 2017

@1900 Enroute to the Netherlands

@2130 Stop at a Shell gas station, while there I decide to start my car just to hear the idle of the 2JZ goodness

@2131 Jacob notices that my water neck is leaking at the spot where we brazed the lower port…

@2140 Back on the road

@2300 Arrive at DP Engineering where the owner lets me store my car inside for the night

Side Notes:

When we got there the owner of DP Engineering didn’t expect us to be there but we seen lights on inside the shop so I tried to get someones attention inside. He pretty much cussed us out in dutch until I told him I was there for tomorrow then all was good.

The specific area we were in we had no service. The second you leave Germany you HAVE to go into roaming for anything but we all know that gets expensive quick. So it took 1 hour to find any food #McDonaldsMVP

We had to sleep in the car, which mean’t awkward. I slept in the hatch(Back problems) and my friend slept in the passenger seat which was not comfortable at all!

June 22nd, 2017

@0930 Get awaken by the owner pulling up in his van saying he was late

@0940 Ask if the owner can TIG weld my water neck before Arnout gets there so we can be ready for the dyno. He says yes just need to take it off and clean it. Also noting that Arnout will be here around 1030-1100

@1000 Waterneck is off but owner is gone

@1030 We drive around the corner to a Toyota Dealership that we seen last night to get coolant and brake clean.

@1100 Stopped by this store HEMA to get towels since my car had leaked some residue power steering fluid.( The shop owner did NOT like spills on his floor but I can’t blame him)

@1120 Back at the shop

@1130 Arnout shows up in this Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Roadster #2…

@ 1140 Owner welds my water neck

@1200 Owner says its lunch time and nothing is getting done until he gets food

@1230 They arrive back with sandwhiches

@ 1320 Its GAME TIME!

@1400 Supra is on the dynapack and ready to start, but wideband isn’t sending good signal to ecu

@1400-1420 Look at wiring and make it so the wires go directly to ECU instead of being spliced. It finally was talking to the ECU but reading was off so we decided to use the Dyno’s wideband instead/

@1425 Started tuning

@ 1430 Noticed the car is throwing a lot of blue smoke and has a misfire

@1435-1445 Swap out spark plugs for new ones and also notice oil in on some plugs

@1450 Still a lot of blue smoke but no more misfire

@1500 Start of the leak down test

@ 1515 Leak down is good but time to change oil since it was too thin

@1530 Finished with oil change and noticed gas was in it also from the injector  issues I had previously ( THANKFULLY WE CAUGHT IT)

@ 1535 We are 100% GOOD TO GO!

@1540-1800 Seen my car make 18WHP to 330WHP all this was on waste gate pressure which was .7 bar and the car sounded AMAZING!

@1800 Owner said it was dinner time so Chinese it was

@1945 Get back and we decide to get the boost solenoid hooked up to start adding boost and get some real power

@2020 All is hooked up but when we go to start the ECU isn’t getting any power

@2030 I remember I loosened a GROUND bolt that went to my E-Fan setup so for the heck of it I tighten it. As I touched it, it sparked ?!?!?!??? I said WTH and to try to start it now and see what happens. Sure enough it starts

@2032 They noticed that the tables were off by 300% meaning everything they did before was pointless. The wideband in the car was talking to the ecu perfect but also it started showing my battery having 10v but using a multimeter at the battery it showed 14v. The tuner instantly came up with the conclusion of electrical issues and as it was getting late I needed a plan.

@2035-2055 Paced around the shop and talked about a plan

2100 I decided to give my car to Arnout’s shop to go through the wiring and when its all sorted go back to get dyno’d then call me when its done.

2100-2145 Took car off the dyno, cleaned up the shop and loaded up ready to go back to Germany empty handed and empty wallet.

Talk about a sad day. It was a lesson learned I guess in the end. I need to make sure my car is 100% before getting there and next time take more days of leave.

Huge thanks to Jacob Stegman, Arnout Van Der Kamp, and DP Engineering
